Why Are Believers Constantly Petitioning For Prayer Yet Don’t Pray Themselves

Can Someone Explain How we live in a society where Believers in Christ are constantly petitioning the government to allow prayer, back into, or to remain, in our public schools while so few churches anymore have prayer meetings, or so few attend those that do have them ???? Or why do believers live in such fear, that somehow God is either not aware of what is going on or that He does not have it all under control according to the working of His good pleasure???

BELIEVER’S RESPONSE TO THREATS AGAINST THEIR BELIEFS AND LIFESTYLE
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES
When Esther became aware of a diabolical plot that was going to be carried out under the authority of the highest political power of the land to destroy her, her people and their way of life what did she do?

Esther 4:16.Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Daniel’s response?

Daniel 6:10-11. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and PRAYED, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. 11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

David’s response ?

Psalm 109:2-4. 2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. 3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. 4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto PRAYER.

Hezekiah”s response concerning Rabshakeh?

Isaiah 37:3-4. And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth. 4 It may be the Lord thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the Lord thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy PRAYER for the remnant that is left.

Moses’ response when God Himself said He would destroy His own people?

Deuteronomy 9:25-26. 25 Thus I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the Lord had said he would destroy you. 26 I PRAYED therefore unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Jesus’ response to Peter?

Luke 22:31-32
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have PRAYED for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

The Church’s response to Peter’s imprisonment after James was killed ?

Acts 12:5. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but PRAYER was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
BIBLICAL EXHORTATIONS
Matthew 5:44-45. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and PRAY for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
2 Chronicles 7:12-15. 12 And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy PRAYER, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and PRAY, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the PRAYER that is made in this place.

WHY SHOULD PRAYER BE OUR RESPONSE INSTEAD OF LOOKING TO THE ARM OF FLESH (no matter how strong it may appear to be)?

There are two main reasons.
(1) God Is Not Seperate From His People.

Zechariah 2:8. For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye
Isaiah 37:23. Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
Acts 9:4-5. 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

(2) God Will Be Glorified In And Through His People.

Isaiah 48:11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. >>John 14:13. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6 ending with these words in verse 13. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Deuteronomy 9:6. Understand therefore, that the Lord thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
Ezekiel 20:9, 14. 9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. 14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
Ezekiel 36:22-23. 22..Thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your sakes, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. 23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. >>1 Timothy 2:1-4. 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
