Shimei’s Cursing
📖 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. 2 Samuel 16:6
😔 Shimei acted like a spoiled child, throwing stones, cursing David, tossing dust in the air. The reason for such outlandish behavior was that he was a relative to King Saul and believed that David was to blame for the King’s death during the battle with the Philistines. But he was mistaken. Saul died by his own sword because he didn’t want to fall into the hands of the enemy and be abused (📖 see 1 Chronicles 10:1-4) 😔
But Shimei insisted on accusing David of taking his life and maintained that this was the reason that Absalom was taking over the kingdom. ⚠️

🗣 Misinformation and misunderstandings are ammunition in the hands of our enemy. People will RUN (feet that move swiftly to mischief – see Proverbs 6:18) with a half-truth, curse you, and delight in throwing stones. Even though this can be hurtful, sometimes it is easier to leave them alone, as David did. There are more important things in life than run after every accusation. Besides, if God sees fit to act on your behalf, the day may come when you get an apology. (📖 see 2 Samuel 19:16-23) ~

🙏 Lord, help us to keep our eyes on you and not on the distractions from the enemy that do not matter in the light of eternity…
