9And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Because the Pharisee was “religious” he believed he was better than the “common sinner”…do you?
47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
If you have lived a life you think is “less” sinful, the love and appreciation that you had (past tense) will fade and you will believe even though you sinned your sins were not as bad as others. But, when you actually see all sin as complete filth, depravity, and deserves hell the love you have for THE LORD and OTHERS will be great! Why? Because you know the need for the Savior, you know the grace of God, you know.
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
The book of Revelation tells us, that the “fearful, unbelieving, and ALL LIAR” will have their part in the lake of fire. Those who believe their sin is so much better than the child molester, the murderer, the thief, the adulterer will be nestled in a sea of torment with them.
17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
Even Elias/Elijah who was a very holy man of God was subject to like passions as us! He had the capability to be a Hitler, a Stalin, a child molester he had the capability and so does every single person on this earth.
16And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
We forget we once also was a sinner. We forget we also needed a physician. We forget that one lie will send your soul to hell. We forget that each one of us was more than capable of being a Stalin, Hitler, or Jereffery Dalhmer. We forget it’s not because of our “goodness” we didn’t do the things these men did. We forget the hours and tears cried that grandma’s, grandpa’s, moms, dads, and others the LORD called to pray for us is why we were not one of what we call the worse of the worse.
We forget and become like a Pharisee who felt he was better than that tax collector, that he did all the religious things, that he was righteous compared to the sinner.
Have we forgotten our own need? Have we become so self-righteous that we cannot remember that Jeremiah 17 tells us the HEART is deceitful ABOVE ALL THINGS and desperately wicked? Have we forgotten there is no cure for a heart like ours? Have we forgotten that God does not clean up the old heart but totally replaces it? Have we forgotten?
People you can call me a liar, you can say I am too fanatical, you can say I take the word of God too serious.
But God says, Let Him be true and every man a liar.
But you say, you didn’t become a full fledge killer shedding innocent blood???
It is not because we were so good, but, because He answers prayers of the righteous and faithful.
We think we stand and are uncapable of doing those things anymore in life? Oh, but God says…
2 Peter 3:14-18
14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Many of us in the Church today need to remember how far from Grace we have fallen, Repent and ask the LORD to forgive us for leaving (not losing) our first love and putting ourself in His place of worship, redo our first works over again in order for Him to RESTORE US!
We are none good, no not one and when we remember that it is only the Grace of God given to us that gave us the Hope inside of us.
Do you know the Word of God says that HE GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE BUT HEC RESISTS THE PROUD???
Humble yourself, and if you can’t then ask God to humble you!
You know others full of pride?
Ask the Father to humble them and give them grace!
God is Holy, He is Righteous, He is Love, and He is Longsuffering not wanting ANY to perish.
The humbling process is not fun, it hurts, some have even opted suicide instead of calling out to the LORD!
Humbling can mean your good health removed, your wealth removed, your home removed, death of loved ones, everyone turning their backs on you. No, God is not causing such things, but He allows the enemy to come in and destroy the flesh so that the soul may be saved in the end!!! Some need more humbling than others yet truth be told the humbling process is a love you and I will never understand.
If a person does not know they are sick they will not seek the Dr. If a sinner does not know they are full of sin and an enemy of God they will not repent!
If a Christian forgets how dreadfully sinful they were before Christ then they will lose compassion and love for the sinner.
Be safe you all and work out your soul salvation with fear and trembling. Do not compare yourself with another instead compare yourself with what the Word of God says about you instead.
Nope you may not have gone to and jumped in head first in the cesspool of filth and swim in it as I did but the sin of pride and arrogance will send you to hell if you do not repent.
Go to the LORD and ask to buy eye salve for your eyes to see…you were no better than the sinner out there that is headed straight for hell before you we
re saved. And according to Peter you still have the potential to do those wicked things again.
I love you all so much stay in the Word, share the Gospel, and pray for the lost to be humbled and for God to give them grace.
We are either praying for the lost and asking the Father to humble them in order to be given grace, or we are exalting ourselves above them saying we were never that bad.
