What Is Your Hearts Temperature?

Pamela JoyousNJesus McDonald

Mark 3:1-6

1And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand. 2And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. 3And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth. 4And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. 5And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 6And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

Daniel 5:6

5Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

v. 10-11

10Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. 11Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

The Pharisee tactics as you see was nothing new, and if you look around and listen it hasn’t changed either.

One of my favorites I hear from believers and unbelievers alike is, “The Bible says judge not!” Most of the time they say it when you tell them what the Bible says about something, then they will accuse you of judging when in truth the Word of God did, not the person reading it. I could go on and on about that scripture so many twists but that is not what the LORD wants us to see in this account at this time.

Another one many will say, “Gluttony is a sin too, and obviously you are sinning daily!” This time they are not only attacking you with the Word but personally seeing if the “flesh” will arise and if you will get angry which would be (pride) or get feelings hurt which again would be (pride).

There are more verses that believers are attacked with, but you get my point. The Pharisees knew Jesus’ love and compassion for the sick and maimed, so they just sat back to see if He would break the Law of the Sabbath. The wicked very sadly seem to know the Word of God and will use it to their advantage whenever possible. Did not Jezebel do the same thing in order to get Naboth’s vineyard for her husband king Ahab?

One more example that the LORD just told me, what about the father of each of these people that use the Word of God twisting it for their advantage? Satan used the Word against Eve, twisting it just enough to get her to question the Word of God. Then when Jesus was in the wilderness 40 days and 40 nights tempted by him, he tried to use the Word of God against Jesus too!

So, in truth, this tactic came from Satan in the Garden against Eve then used as a cookie-cutter pattern throughout history!

Matthew 12:9-14

9And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: 10And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. 14Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

Reading Matthew compared to Mark we notice a couple of things different, which is only because we are getting different perspectives as different people are describing the same event and as both heard or noticed different things. But putting them together as we have the opportunity too, we get the bigger picture of what was happening.

They knew how Jesus was so compassionate and was full of empathy for sick people, so they waited to see if He would heal this man and break the Sabbath. They did not care that this man was handicapped, they did not care that he could not work a job and take care of himself or his family. They just did not care, in their eyes that man meant nothing.

Jesus told the man with the withered hand to stand forth, which was to put him in the middle and all could see.

Jesus knew what they were thinking, then they ask Him in order to trap Him this, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

He responds by saying, “What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. Or evil? To save life or to kill?” But they held their peace.

Next in Mark’s account only, we read something that many kind of gloss over, not us, this is where we need to stay for a while.

v. 5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Can you imagine this picture? Or worse yet, to be one of them that Jesus slowly scanned their face, with anger on His face? There are other times that Jesus was angry without a doubt, like when He chased the merchants out of the Temple of God twice. But not written in these kinds of words, “He looked around about them with ANGER!” Mark notices His countenance; Mark writes it down for us to read and understand Jesus was angry, but He did not sin. In the Greek it explains it so much clearer, when He looked around, He literally surveyed each face with an all-embracing gaze of anger AND grief.

The kind of anger Jesus had was justifiable and is NOT the same anger that He spoke of when talking about being angry with your brother and being in danger of the judgment. The anger Jesus had was HIS GODLY ANGER against sin.

3709 Greek

orgé: impulse, wrath

Original Word: ὀργή, ῆς, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: orgé
Phonetic Spelling: (or-gay’)
Definition: impulse, wrath
Usage: anger, wrath, passion; punishment, vengeance.

[“Orgē comes from the verb oragō meaning, ‘to teem, to swell’; and thus implies that it is not a sudden outburst, but rather (referring to God’s) fixed, controlled, passionate feeling against sin . . . a settled indignation (so Hendriksen)” (D. E. Hiebert, at 1 Thes 1:10).]

Jesus was angry and the next words should frighten every one of us in the Church today!

“Being grieved for the hardness of their hearts.”

“Being grieved” is the ONLY TIME this Greek word is used in the New Testament to describe what the LORD was experiencing.

Grief 4818 Greek

sullupeó: to be moved to grief with (pass.)

Original Word: συλλυπέομαι
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: sullupeó
Phonetic Spelling: (sool-loop-eh’-o)
Definition: to be moved to grief with (pass.)
Usage: I am moved to grief by sympathy.

STRONGS NT 4818: συλλυπέω

1. to affect with grief together: Aristotle, eth. Nic. 9, 11, 4, p. 1171b, 7.

2. Passive, present participle συλλυπούμενος (T WH συνλυπουμενος cf. σύν, II. at the end (Tdf. Proleg., p. 76)); to grieve with oneself(see σύν, II. 4 (so Fritzsche, DeWette, others; but others regard the Σιν as ‘sympathetic’; cf. Meyer, Weiss, Morison, on Mark as below)), be inwardly grieved (Herodotus, Plato, Polybius, Diodorus): of the pain of indignation, ἐπί τίνι, Mark 3:5.

He was angry and grieved at the same time towards the Scribes and Pharisees. These feelings were because they had no compassion at all for this man, and their hearts were continuing to harden towards not only people, but towards God. The religious leaders that are supposed to represent God, are hardening their heart to Him!

Hardness Greek 4457

pórósis: a covering with a callous, fig. blindness

Original Word: πώρωσις, εως, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: pórósis
Phonetic Spelling: (po’-ro-sis)
Definition: a covering with a callous, blindness
Usage: hardness of heart, obtuseness.

Cognate: 4457 pṓrōsis – hardness (from “pōros, a kind of marble, used later of a callus formed on fractured bones); (figuratively) callousness or hardness in general” (WS, 97); “originally petrifaction, hardness and then the result of this, i.e. metaphorically applied to organs of feeling, meaning insensibility, numbness, obtuseness, dulling of the faculty of perception, deadness” (Souter).

They KNEW of Jesus’ compassion and of His Power, they wanted to ensnare Him in order to accuse Him of breaking the LAW! The miracles alone were a witness of who He was! Yet, instead of them drawing to Him, they were hardening their hearts towards Him! They could not see past the oral law long enough to see the miracle, they could not see past their “religious zeal” in order to care that this man is going to be healed.

Let’s look into our own hearts and actions for a minute.

How many said about Jeffery Epstein “serves him right,” “who CARES! HE DESERVED TO DIE,” when NEWS reports came out of his apparent suicide?

When Kobe Bryant and daughter along with the others that died in the plane crash, how many said, “he was a RAPIST, he got what was coming to him, but I feel bad for the daughter.”

When you see a man or a woman arrested for child trafficking, and you say, “I hope they BURN IN HELL!” or “I hope they get what is coming to them the sick perverts!”

The prostitute contracts AIDS in need of prayer but you don’t pray because in your mind, “She deserves that and more!”.

You hear of a teenager drinking and driving getting into an accident now is paralyzed. Your thoughts, “At least he didn’t hurt anyone else, serves him right.”

A smoker is diagnosed with lung cancer, and you think, “Well they knew that could happen, they were just stupid for starting to begin with.”

A single mother with three small kids in need of some heating fuel, but last time you gave her money she spent it on cigarettes, and you say, “she needs to learn her lesson this time.”

You see on the NEWS or Newspaper a young woman found dead on the street from bleeding to death after an abortion. In your disgust, you say, “GOOD! I hope she is in hell for killing her baby!”

Someone did you wrong, oh, let’s say like an ex-husband. He cheated on you and then left with the other woman. Leaving you alone, depressed and bitter. You see the other “woman” in a cozy restaurant with another man a couple years later. You snap a photo and then with revenge and hatefulness you send it to your ex in order to “pay him back for hurting you.”

How many of YOU post memes making fun of politicians?  Hillary? Peloski? Biden? Trump? Celebrities?

It is one thing to post facts it is another to make fun and posts jokes! God IS NOT LAUGHING, guess what? HE GETS NO JOY OUT OF IT AT ALL!

Do you find it humorous to trample on the Precious Blood of Jesus as you slap the Father in the face posting slanderous and wicked things about those who are about ready to enter eternity in hell and YOU COULD HAVE PRAYED FOR THEM! You trample on the Blood because your conduct is not bringing Glory to God but shame and reproach on His Holy Name, His Son, and His Sacrifice for ALL! In the time you focused on cracking jokes, wishing people in hell, hoping they got what they deserved YOU WERE CALLED TO PRAY FOR THEM, TO LOVE THEM!

You read how Jesus was ANGRY and GRIEVED over the hardness of their hearts, right? Can YOU IMAGINE how ANGRY and GRIEVED He is right now at the hypocrites in the Churches that at one time was given the Holy Spirit of God that shed love abroad in their hearts for all!

Do you see yourself in any of these scenarios? The Scribes and Pharisees were putting horrible yokes on people, their hearts were hard, and they lost compassion, BUT they were never born again!

But WE TODAY have been given a brand-new heart and a right spirit and somehow turned out to be WORSE than them! Who wept when Epstein died? I am not bragging but if you search my profile you will find that I DID! How? Why? Because he was a person that Jesus Christ died for! He was deceived possibly demonically possessed! Jesus did not die in VAIN He died for all! Not just your clique in your little country church! Epstein was a part of that inheritance given to Him. I believe personally we will give account for those we did not pray for, I do not want to see one person be thrown into the lake of fire and find out it was because I DID NOT PRAY FOR THEM! It is the same thing with the Zionist who desire our demise, we are to pray for them! Love them as ourselves! Impossible without the Holy Spirit.

We are in this world, but we are NOT OF THIS WORLD, we are seated in Heavenly places with Christ Jesus after being born again. It is not easy, but IT IS ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE WITH CHRIST! We are new in every way and we are to walk in the newness and love everyone.

I want to bring to your remembrance Stephen in the Book of Acts. Do you remember how he passionately preached Christ walking them through the Old Testament? Do you remember how angry the hearers were, but Stephen continued? He was not preaching to show off or be smart-alecky, he did it to glorify Christ and out of love for them, that was hearing him. Then when the hearers could bear no more of the truth, they began to stone him to death. But did he quit preaching? Did he quit loving? NO!  With his very last breath he prayed for those stoning him to death! His last words were, “LAY NOT THIS SIN TO THEIR CHARGE!!!” Yet, in 2020 we believe God finds humor in us making fun of the wicked? Wishing them in hell? Praying for them to die? Oh, I do fear for this hardened church generation!! Prideful, arrogant, idolaters, worshipping a god they invented in their own mind! Being so far away from the One True God and they have no idea!

Still yet, even amid Jesus’ anger He was horribly grieved for THEM AT THE SAME TIME! He knew if they were not to change, then they would suffer in eternity in the lake of fire never having a chance to leave. That my brothers and sisters is love, the exact kind of love we need for EVERYONE! Even the vilest perverted pedophile you are to love them, pray for their salvation as well as justice being done on earth concerning their crimes. Even though we are born again, forgiven and saved from our sins, we must face justice here on earth if crimes are involved. God is a Just, Holy, and Righteous God and whatsoever we sow on this earth we shall also reap.

Without a question in my mind, I know that every single Scribe and Pharisee there felt His stare of anger toward each of them personally. Making them silent and squirming. He once again put them in their place in front of others they try to rule over making their hearts even harder because of pride.

Then he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Jesus was done with the Scribes and Pharisees and having nothing more to say to them, He turns His eyes and attention back on the man with the withered hand.

Jesus tells the man to stretch forth his hand, as he stretched forth his hand the healing happened! Jesus did not even TOUCH HIM!! No laying on of hands, no oil, no spittle nothing! EVEN that was not enough to bring the Scribes and Pharisees to their knees professing of a truth He is GOD! NO!

Instead they left devising a way to literally DESTROY HIM!!!

And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

They were so enraged at Jesus, how He humiliated them concerning their traditions, silenced them in front of those they ruled over religiously, and THEN He did not even touch the maimed man in order to HEAL HIM!! Which certainly pointed that GOD ALMIGHTY IS THE HEALER and HE IS WITH JESUS!

Have you ever heard the saying, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend?” Well, you could have written that little saying from that verse above. The religious leaders and the Herodians did not care for each other, but they had the exact same hatred for Jesus and the same desire for Him to die! As they straightway went out their hearts were hardening even more and willing to team up with those they despised! WOW!!

These people had a form of Godliness but were far from Godly.

In our day they are those who have a form of Godliness but deny the power thereof!

The POWER is in the new birth, to where we are crucified with Christ, in which Christ died on the Cross.

We bury the old man, which is Christ buried in the tomb.

We are raised up in Power by the Holy Spirit a new creation in Christ, in which Christ rose from the grave by the Power of the SAME HOLY SPIRIT in an everlasting body!

The water baptism is a beautiful picture of this.

Before we are baptized we make our confession of being born again, a type of death.

Then we are emersed in the water a type of burial.

Then we are brought up out of the water as a new creation, a type of resurrection.

Matthew 10:16-22

16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
