A Word I Needed to Hear

wordbubbleI was given a Word today that I needed to hear. Never thought about it before but I understand how it pertains to me and what the LORD is ready to do with me and through me for Him.

David was the youngest of Jesse’s sons, he was humble, loved the LORD and pretty content taking care of the few sheep. God chose him out of his older brothers, though they looked like the most likely candidates God said, nay to all of them. Then in the presence of his older brothers, God anointed him and set him apart for His purpose. Then David was sent by his father to take food to his brothers, while there he heard of the Philistines and Goliath, and how Saul offered his daughter to whoever slew him. His brothers were angry at him, and spoke evil to him, even though David did nothing to deserve their anger and hostility. Saul then sends for David and David tells him how the LORD delivered him from a lion and a bear and states the LORD will deliver him out of the hand of this Philistine as well. Saul put his own armor on David but David said I cannot use these for I have not proved them, but instead went with his staff, a bag with five smooth stones and a sling to go fight Goliath.

Goliath was not impressed at all when he saw David, insulted would be the word that he felt. Then he cursed David by his gods then taunts him telling him that he will give his flesh to the birds and beasts. But David was unmoved and said, “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands”

Then it says David ran towards him, not away, but towards him! David drew his stone and sling and killed the Philistine then used his own sword to cut his head off!

The LORD is sending me out in the land of the Philistines soon, and many of my older brothers and sisters in the LORD are talking about me, and are jealous because I am so young in the LORD, and quite honestly do not have the best track record. But God sees the heart, the desire to serve, and the faith in Him. God is going to use those who will not take His glory and be puffed up as if they did something on their own. We are living in a wicked and perverse world and the Gospel is not being told in Truth but instead, it is water-downed and sugarcoated making men and women feel good in their sins! God is searching for those who will speak forth His Word and sow the seeds of the Gospel regardless of the danger, resentment, or a hostile environment.

I witness many men and women be praised by the world and be complimented as being outstanding Christians. But Jesus clearly said, woe unto you when all men speak well of you for they did also your fathers who killed the prophets! He also said if they hated Him they would hate us, so I cannot sit and feel sorry for myself or allow my feelings to get hurt when those in the world talk evil of me, or even those in the Church. The Word of God will offend and if you are living a Godly life and speaking the Word of God you will be hated for His Namesake.

The LORD told me to go that He is with me, and I know this without a doubt now. Thank You, LORD for your Word today!
